GHMC to make 48 MW waste-based power plant

In order to set up a power plant based on municipal solid waste, with an installed capacity of 48 MW by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the expert appraisal committee of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Changes has issued terms of reference for the process of environmental clearance.

According to the details submitted to the expert panel of the MoEF, the proposals are for setting up waste-to-energy (WtE) power plant based on municipal solid waste (MSW) at Jawaharnagar of Kapra mandal in Medchal district on the outskirts of the city with an estimated cost of Rs 720 crore.
